Monthly Bill

I am not receiving my monthly Com ED bills. When I receive my Com ED bill it is doubled. This is not the first time I have contacted customer service regarding this issue. I am a retiree, I pay my bills monthly and to receive my bills timely would be a great help to me.

You have a way to get this lame post online. Act like an adult, get your bill online if you're having problems getting your mail LIKE THE REST OF THE NATION, and stop the whining.

It's not that hard and you know it.

Love how you tried to pad out your complaint with useless tidbits such as your being a retiree. You have more time to do simple stuff..

So those of us who work at home are being deprived of a full day of work thanks to ComEds all-day tree-trimming. In my case, Im a teacher and all online classes had to be cancelled. And no grading possible. Worst of all, no advance notice.

Pros:
  • Big
Cons:
  • Poor communication

Preferred solution: During sequestering, tree-trim on weekends.

No one cares about YOU as an individual. The need of the many in your area outweighs your needs and the needs of your students.

Should your neighbors be without power for days if a tree takes out their power so you can grade? Nein.....

ComEd = BIG BULLY

I just received a Bill from ComEd to the tune of $938.03. I almost did a back flip when I saw that. I called ComEd to ask why my Bill was so high. I was told that the original meter that was installed on my Townhouse approximately 15 years ago was mislabeled and that I was actually paying my neighbors bill while they were paying my bill. I’ve lived at my townhouse for the past 7 years now, and this is the first time I’ve heard of such a thing. ComEd checks the meters on the townhouses, they maintain the meters, they own the meters but they told me that when the townhouses were built roughly 15 years ago the electrician who was in charge of labeling the service feeds to each townhouse units screwed up and miss labeled mine to receive my neighbors meter and my neighbor to receive my meter. Since ComEd realized the issue now, they tell me that legally they are allowed to back-bill me for the unpaid services for a back duration of 12 months. How is this fair, I asked? They told me that it just is, since I used the electricity, I need to pay back for that. How do I know that this is not a scam from ComEd to generate new source of revenue for their company. Where is the proof? I’m one of 200 townhomes in my subdivision. If half of the meters on my subdivision were mislabeled, and everyone is back-billed $833.09, then ComEd just made a nice income of $83,309 (100 homes “x” $833.09). Where is the proof that what they are telling me has actually happened? If I receive a Red Light Camera Ticket, I’m able to log on to a website and actually watch myself run through the red light. I’m able to see my car and my license plate; hence there is proof to back up the issued ticket/bill. There is no proof here at all. ComEd can just simply say that there was a Meter mix up anytime they need to generate revenue for their company. Now, multiply this by the hundreds of thousands of homes that will receive such notice in the mail from ComED. According to http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/17/17031.html Cook County, Illinois Population for 2013 was roughly 5,240,700. These 5.24 Million people live in 2,170,156 homes. If 1 million of these homes received such notice as I did, and let’s assume that their back-bill was an average of $500, and if no one questioned or made a stink about it like I just did and all 1 million households paid this back-bill to ComEd without ComEd ever providing any proof that such meter mix-up has occurred, then ComEd could have made a whopping $500,000,000. How nice for ComEd. When I called ComEd, they told me that they can take the $833.09 and spread it out by 12 payments of $69.42, but I have to give them an upfront deposit of $250 before they sign me up to the payment plan. I have always paid my bills on time and in Full, why do I need to give them an upfront $250 deposit? Another thing that makes no sense to me is how they calculated the back-bill. Please look at the chart below. Why is it that in some months the calculated difference is a 185.83% increase, where as in some months it is as low as 51.98%? Shouldn’t the increase % be the same for every month? Why so drastic difference in the % increase from month to month? How was this calculated? What formula was used? Who came up with this % increase number? Does someone at ComEd sit there picking their nose and comes up with these numbers? This is insane. I told ComEd that I don’t have the money to pay this unjustified bill. I told them that I can make a payment of $20 more a month that is it. They told me that they will take that extra $20, but will eventually send me a notice of service termination and if the amount is not paid, they will cut my electricity. I told them that they just can’t simply drop this type of a bill on me and expect me to pay this. They simply stated that they cannot do anything for me, rather than just put me on a payment plan. I told them that I did not maintain the meter, nor did I install the meter, nor did I label the feed lines. They told me to find the builder who build my townhouse 15 years ago and have him help me locate the electrician, because they are not the ones who mislabeled the feeds. I’ll be honest with you, I lost my cool on several occasions and I dropped a few “F-bombs” at the ComEd supervisor who identified herself as Stephanie 3173, but the frustration of trying to tell these people that I’m not at fault here took over me. I would like someone to help me fight this unjustified claim that I owe ComEd this back pay. -Peter

ComEd's sloppy response to power outage on 6/21

I am a mount prospect resident and had no power since Tuesday evening. I have seen Power outages a lot, this is the first time in my life to witness a residential power outage for such a long period of time [almost 48 hours] as of writing. I basically had to live in a car for a night and hotel for another night since I did not have front door key with me and garage door remote control did not work at the time. Hopefully, by the time when the outage is over, out pet fishes are still alive; and the basement is not flooded with water. I am not sure ComEd will be merciful enough to compensate our spoiled food in the refrigerator that is worth about $300. The thing that I am sure though is that my electricity will get cut off as soon as my bill is not paid in time. I am an immigrant from a third world country, and had lived there for about 20 years before I came to the states; the longest recovery time that I ever had experienced then was about 2-3 hours. Kudos to the big monopoly Commonwealth Edison.

We have been without power since Tuesday night as well as a lot of others. The problem is our utility pole located right next to the garage has a wire that is broken and had caught fire and if it weren't for the heavy rain probably would have burned down our garage!!!

We have submitted several reports to Com-Ed to no avail. We keep getting messages that they are on site but no one has been here. We can only assume that they think if they fix the area where the major outage originates from that we are taken care of but our problem is at the pole on our property.

We have even talked to a rep at Com-Ed.... twice, but of course there is nothing they can do.....48 hours later!

Com Ed Refuses To Turn On My Service!

Our Com Ed bill is paid in full and we have to wait 12 to 14 days to have our service turned on. We have a 5 month old baby in our home and all Com Ed keeps telling us is that there's nothing they can do. Unacceptable!!! I bet if it weas there 5 month old child there would be something that they could do. And we have 2 asthmatics and one disabled person in the home. That doesn't matter to Com Ed all that matters is the money!!! Once again, unacceptable!!! Thank you ComEd, appreciate it!!!

Commonwealth Edison in N. Illinois

When I lived in DeKalb county, Illinois, I was a very poor woman with two minors to support. I applied for housing cost assistance and was granted assistance in six months from HUD of DeKalb county They helped me with the large rent bill and when I went to recertify, my landlord raised the rent nearly 200 dollars a month. THEN, HUD sent out inspector to look at the apartment for the second time, they found that one circuit from the attached apartment A ran through my meter for electricity. Mine being apt C. The tennants in apt A had a drop cord from their refridgerator to that ONE circuit outlet in our common wall. THIS should have been found the first year of inspection. THE landlord refused to rectify the situation and it is documented as I state. Then COMMONWEALTH EDISON billed me after I was forced to move out due to the escalated rent. I had left the bldg owing nothing to COMM ED. The bill was passed from one collector to another till that neighbors refridgerator was to cost nearly 1200.00 for electricity. i explained it over and over to the collector, even sending them photo copy of HUD findings to no avail. THEY then totally messed up my credit rating and I was near bankruptcy. THE collector said she understood but it was too bad and I should pay up anyway because they could not seperate the IOUs. com-ed will get 250.00 from me when *** freezes over, sent payment in on 10/10/13-3wks before it was due along with a letter to the billing dept.supervisor, called 10/24/13 claim it was not received and then tried some more trickery to get me to pay it after I've refused by phone/letters,had to put a stop payment on the check;chase bank understood and waived the 30.00 fee i'd of been charged, paid current bill by phone on 10/25/13 since it was due on the 28th,more than likely this supervisor will out of spite have billing place another so-called late fee to my bill next time, have told them by phone/letter they WILL NOT BE PAID,SUPERVISOR WILL BE REPORTED FOR UNETHICAL TACTICS AND CONTENTIOUS BEHAVIOR WITH A CUSTOMER WHO PAYS THEIR BILL ON TIME EVERY MONTH!!!!

Guest

they have tried to make me pay an unnecessary 'security deposit' of 250.00 so-called based on my payment history which all of my bills were paid, will not show me proof otherwise and the billing supervisor is also having the representatives to try and pull all kinds of trickery that i'm not falling for,had service at a prior address and wasn't charged a security deposit then;i use their powerlines only and had to apply to another co.just to have their rates lowered!the supervisor there has also been doing some nasty things like tacking on late fees that arenot related to my current charges bill, going to report her to their ethics dept.
